Multilingual reception
Multilingual General Reception is available automatically. You do not need to install a language pack, choose a default language, or turn on a separate setting.
During an ordinary reception conversation, a caller can begin speaking in a supported language or ask your agent to switch languages. Your agent can respond in that language and continue the conversation without starting a new call.
How callers change languages
Section titled “How callers change languages”A caller can enter multilingual reception in either of these ways:
- Speak naturally in another supported language. Your agent can recognize the caller’s language and respond in it.
- Request a language. For example, a caller can ask, “Can we continue in Spanish?” and then continue the conversation in Spanish.
The caller can also switch back to English or request another supported language during the same General Reception conversation.
What RevSystems has verified
Section titled “What RevSystems has verified”RevSystems has directly verified General Reception in English, Spanish, and German, including switching among all three during one live call. Responses followed the caller’s active language without a separate workspace setting.
This verification applies to ordinary General Reception questions and answers. It does not certify every structured Call Handling room in those languages.
Supported language set
Section titled “Supported language set”The speech technology behind General Reception publishes support for the following 57 languages:
- Afrikaans, Arabic, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Belarusian, and Bosnian
- Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, and Danish
- Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, and Galician
- German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, and Icelandic
- Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Kazakh, and Korean
- Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Malay, Marathi, and Maori
- Nepali, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, and Romanian
- Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, and Swahili
- Swedish, Tagalog, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, and Welsh
Language support does not make every call identical. Accent, dialect, connection quality, background noise, proper names, and specialized vocabulary can affect recognition and pronunciation. Test the languages and business terms your callers are most likely to use.
Current capability boundary
Section titled “Current capability boundary”| Call experience | Multilingual status |
|---|---|
| General Reception questions and answers | Available automatically |
| Same-call switching during General Reception | Available; directly verified in English, Spanish, and German |
| Qualification | Not yet certified room by room |
| Calendar and booking | Not yet certified room by room |
| Message Taking | Not yet certified room by room |
| Live handoff | Not yet certified room by room |
An uncertified path may still respond in another language, but it is not yet a documented multilingual guarantee. Do not assume that a successful General Reception test certifies a structured action.
Test your caller experience
Section titled “Test your caller experience”Use a repeatable test for each language your business expects:
- Begin with a normal business question that stays in General Reception.
- Speak in the target language or ask your agent to switch to it.
- Ask an approved question from your Knowledge setup.
- Confirm that the response is both in the requested language and factually correct.
- Switch back to English during the same call.
- Repeat with important business names, services, locations, and industry terms.
If you plan to use qualification, booking, handoff, or Message Taking with multilingual callers, test that path separately and treat it as uncertified until RevSystems publishes a room-specific update.
Configuration answer
Section titled “Configuration answer”If someone asks how to configure multilingual reception, the short answer is: you do not need to configure it. It is already active for supported General Reception conversations.
Your saved Business Profile, Knowledge, greeting, reception instructions, and behavior boundaries remain the source material for the conversation. Adding clear approved facts helps your agent answer consistently in any supported language.
